July 2020 - Golf Cart Ordinance
Sadly, the 25 mph speed limit is often ignored on our streets by many vehicles. When you add pedestrians out for a walk or jog, bicycles, mopeds, ATVs, and golf carts to our busy streets with incomplete sidewalks, the risk of an accident is high.
Our neighborhood and the surrounding neighborhoods have a lot of golf carts moving through the streets now more than ever. We are reprinting KRS 189.286 for all residents out of concern for everyone’s safety. Some of you may not be aware that golf carts must be operated by a licensed driver and display a permit in order to be driven on our neighborhood streets, and only between sunrise and sunset. These facts and others are all spelled out for you in the KY statute. Warren County has not adopted more stringent ordinances.
If you own a golf cart and have additional questions, you may want to contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Your insurance agent may also be an informational resource.
